Potassium hydroxide CAS 1310-58-3 is an inorganic compound with the formula KOH, and is commonly called caustic potash. This colorless solid is a prototypical strong base. It has many industrial and niche applications, most of which exploit its corrosive nature and its reactivity toward acids. It is widely used in the production of potassium carbonate including KHCO3, potassium soaps,detergents, fine cosmetic, potassium hydrogen phosphate, potassium permanganate, medical intermediate, liquid fertilizers, synthetic rubber, ABS resin, natural rubber emulsion, paper agent, fermentation, cresol, de-sulfuration in petroleum refining, bio-fuel and alkaline battery.
Application
1. Used for electroplating, carving, lithography, etc.
2. Used as raw material for potassium salt production, such as potassium permanganate and potassium carbonate.
3. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to produce potassium borohydride, spironolactone, saparinol, testosterone propionate, progesterone, vanillin, etc.
4. Used in the production of potassium soap, alkaline storage batteries and cosmetics in the light industry.
5. In the dye industry, it is used to produce vat dyes, such as vat RSN.
6. Used as an absorbent for analytical reagents, saponification reagents, carbon dioxide and water.
